Introducing Our Brand New Closed Board Fence Kit
If you’re considering installing a new fence and you want the process to be as simple and as affordable as possible, you’ve come to the right place.
At AWBS, we’ve recently added a handy, all-in-one closed board fence kit to our range of garden products. Read on to learn more, including the components each kit contains and why they’re a great option for DIY novices and experienced tradespeople alike.
What is closed board fencing?
In case you haven’t come across the term before, closed board fencing (also known as feather edge fencing) is a type of fencing made up of interlocking boards cut diagonally. Each board slightly overlaps the next and is backed by horizontal rails for added strength. This traditional style of fencing is usually around 6ft high and is a popular choice for garden boundaries as it is both secure and fully enclosed for extra privacy. This makes close board fencing ideal for homes that are overlooked by other properties, gardens or busy roads.
What’s included in the closed board fence kit?
Our brand new closed board fence kits take the guesswork out of buying individual components for your latest fencing project. Instead, the kits provide everything you need to build a standard 3m wide bay of closed board fencing in one place. This includes:
- 30 x feather edge boards (1.65m x 125mm)
- 3 x arris rails (3m)
- 2 x v-notch posts (2.4m)
- 1 x timber gravel board (3m)
- 1 x counter rail (3m)
- 1 x capping rail (3m)
- 2 x Hanson Post-Fix 25kg bags
Highlights
As rough sawn timber isn’t naturally waterproof, each feather edge fence board in the kit is pressure treated with chemical preservatives to protect the wood in all weathers and seasons.
The fence posts, providing the main support for the fence, are made of quality kiln-dried redwood timber. Each one is pre-notched for use with the triangular arris rails, to ensure a flush finish and for ease of construction.
The timber gravel board, which attaches to the bottom of the fence, has been designed to add an extra layer of protection for the bottom of the slats to prevent wood rot.
The kit also includes a capping rail for a professional finish and added weatherproofing to extend the lifespan of your fence.
