AWBS Competition Winners’ New Patio
Over the Easter Bank Holiday we ran a competition with a fabulous prize of a brand-new patio for the winner! With the paving to be supplied by us and the installation by our sister company, AWBS Landscaping, we had lots of entries and we’re thrilled to announce the winners are now enjoying their wonderful new patio!
Mr and Mrs Nash, from Abingdon in Oxfordshire, were the lucky winners of the brand-new patio, from our AWBS Exclusive paving range, with professional installation. They chose the gorgeous Stone Grey Indian Sandstone paving slabs, laid in a random pattern, with AWBS Stone Grey paving as a border around it, and are delighted with their stunning new patio.
Our AWBS Exclusive range of natural stone paving slabs offers a variety of beautiful styles and shades, from the neutral greys and browns of Meadow Blend, to the stunning deep blue and grey tones of Blue Slate. With rich light and dark hues, the chosen Stone Grey Indian sandstone paving perfectly complements Mr and Mrs Nash’s stylish outside space, with its contemporary furniture and accessories.
Installing the new patio
Overall, the size of the patio was 30m2 and it took AWBS Landscaping six days to install from start to finish. The new patio was to be built away from the back of the house, to one side of the garden but, as the garden sloped, the patio needed to be built up with a retaining wall. Brian Proffitt, from AWBS Landscaping, explained:
“At the site survey it became apparent we needed to design a paving solution to overcome the problem the sloping garden presented. We did this by introducing blue engineering brick retaining walls, set to the proposed angled perimeter of the patio design.”
The wall was built using concrete blocks with sand and cement, etc. Mr and Mrs Nash chose blue solid engineering bricks for the facing bricks, which are frost proof and ideal for any hard building project, as the colour sits perfectly alongside the Stone Grey Indian sandstone paving. Around the perimeter of the patio, AWBS Stone Grey paving was used as a border, with the whole new patio pointed with Pavestone Grey Pointfix for a neat and seamless finish.
